Gee Gee Decorator: S/T (Coq Au Vinyl)
WTF reissue of the year from this leftfield 80's Newark, N.J. (?) unit, possibly one of the most out rhythm and blues records of all time.
Imagine the Dead C firing up the practice-closet four-track in blazing lo-fidelity hiss armed with Neubauten's garbage-percussion, Fushitsusha's bassist, a rabid wah wah pedal and duelling Teddy Pendergrass and Sharon Jones style vocalists shouting soul hooks and seductive tropes over complete barely-on-the-rails sonic mayhem.
While some have decried the "validity" of this unit (for all we know it could be Pussy Galore disciple's secret soul identity, or more realistically a practice reel from schoolhouse rockers with keys to the equipment closet), the mere existence of this as a release has certainly made the year of at least a few fans.
Our own Brian Turner was basically shoving this reissue into the hands of every attendee at the Marc Masters in-store. And hey, many have returned to continue their patronage!
Happy New Year: "you're just the right size."
Team 2023 and highly recommended!!
