Jim Shepard - Picking Through the Wreckage With a Stick LP

$25.00

Much needed reissue of Jim Shepard’s 1995 solo LP originally issued by Siltbreeze and now brought back by the fine folks at Zaius [sic].

Our own, Msgr. Rich Mudge, writes,

“A classic work of heartland deviance arrives just in time for Thanksgiving 2024 (to paraphrase our illustrious chief).

Zaius Records has done us all a solid by reissuing Jim Shepard’s 1995 solo LP Picking Through The Wreckage With A Stick. If anything is worthy of reissue this is it.

Originally pressed by Siltbreeze Recs back in 1995 and long out of print it’s great to see this unleashed on the world again. This is a straight reissue, faithful to the original tho’ the spray painted cover (done by Jim himself on the original) is now a more practical printed version.

Yes darkness and rancor prevade, but filtered through Shepard’s unique voice and perverse sense of humor. It all transcends mere misanthropy and turns personal trauma into a work of gnarly DIY beauty. The work of a mind never at rest; equal parts collagist and songwriter in league with the strangest of the strange.

Admittedly this hits a bit of nostalgia for that booze soaked part of my heart/psyche that still resides somewhere in the rust belt but really it all sounds as fresh as ever here in what’s left of the future.”
