The Necks: Mindset (ReR Vinyl)
Difficult to say with any certainty, but we believe this 2011 release was the first recording from The Necks pressed to vinyl via their own Fish of Milk imprint and the legendary ReR Megacorp.
Two long pieces, one stripped down to just the trio (Chris Abrahams, Lloyd Swanson and Tony Buck) and the other including multiple layers of swirling Hammonds, noise-guitar, and electronics.
From the one-sheet:
“Long-awaited reissue [re: repress] of The Necks' 2011 masterpiece, Mindset. Always different, here the Necks resolutely layer polyrhythmic material to form seething blocks of sound -- in two long pieces, one more stripped back to the live trio, the other featuring multiple strata of swirling Hammonds, noise-guitar, and electronics. Their 16th release still resonates on its own.”
Highest Recommendation. Uncertain? Check out this set from the Tusk Festival in 2019.
