The Underflow, Live at the Underflow, featuring David Grubbs, Mats Gustafsson and Rob Mazurek (Underflow Records)
Record Grouch Exclusive:
We are the only shop in the U.S. carrying this amazing record issued by the Greek record store and gallery Underflow Records. This live set was recorded there on May 31, 2019.
Wide ranging in feel and dynamics, the trio consists of David Grubbs (guitar), Mats Gustafsson (flute, fluteophone, baritone saxophone, live electronics) and Rob Mazurek (piccolo trumpet, wooden flute, electronics, percussion, and voice). This series of duets and trios documents these artists meeting headlong for the first time. The A-side drifts in the direction of noise, radical improvisation, and incidental music. The B-side sounds different in feel and substance, offering a nice complement and response to the intensity of the album’s first half.
A fantastic record from a seasoned trio of players.
