ZULI: Digla Dive-Live (NASHAZPHONE)

$32.00

Meeting of the minds: one of our favorite imprints, the Nashazphone label, joins forces with post-IDM and post-Jungle experimentalist and fellow Cairenes ZULI!

We discovered ZULI via Lee Gamble’s UIQ imprint and the Bionic Ahmed (2016) and Numbers (2017) 12”s, followed by the double LP Terminal, which was included in our Team 2018 celebration.

We became especially well acquainted with ZULI’S music during the pandemic, however, watching the Cairo-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ perform blazing sets on Youtube.  Those kinetic sets pushed genre barriers and played with aesthetic boundaries, even as we watched them unfold from the comfort of the kitchen table.

Digla Dive - Live provides a further step in ZULI’S avant-dance musical arrangements, where studio compositions get constructed in live contexts.  These ten tracks move between grime, IDM, hip-hop, jungle, and references way beyond our limited NYC perspective.  With titles like “Removing Black Heads,” “All [The Drills]” and “Papercuts pt 3,” this is one of the most rugged and precise burners of 2023.

Edition of 300.
